MHRC Weekly Update- Weekend of Jan 28-29, 2024

Hello MHRC famillies,

Here is your weekly update for the past weekend.

We have included some updates and results from the previous week as well.

Looking forward to another great weekend of skiing and racing coming up!

U8/U10- Development (Saturday and Sunday)

Our U8’s had their first race gates experience last Saturday at Glen Eden. It was an untimed event. Most athletes had never skied through gates before and were thrilled to try it out. Some younger athletes fell over on the slope during the run but managed to get up on their own.

Fun was had by all of the skiers during training and in the club house this past weekend.

Check out all of the smiling faces below!

It was a busy weekend at MHRC but the development group is off to a great start and looking forward to more time on snow this coming weekend.

U12/U14- Development

The racers all had a great past two weekends, with a fun race and then some enjoyable not too cold temperatures.  The team is in good spirits and looking forward to the next weekend training.

For the past few weeks U8/U10 teams have been getting a lot of technical work, focusing on their balance and outside ski pressure.
Fun race the previous week was a blast, some of the racers did their first ever runs in the course.

Last weekend, despite the warm weather, the minis have started training in the race course in preparation for the coming races.

This past weekend, the U12’s were busy training for their upcoming race this Saturday at Caledon Ski Club.  They were also a huge help to the U14 race at Glen Eden on Sunday. A few of our racers were forerunners for the slalom, and the team sideslipped the course throughout the race.

MHRC hosted a U14 race this weekend.  Thanks to everyone for chipping in and helping the race run smoothly.

U12 was there to support, and it was great to see the teams socializing and connecting with old teammates.

A special thanks to the U12 team and parents for helping out.

Shout outs go to Kylie Udovic, Adam Herrington, and Ashton Baxter for their top ten finishes.

The skiers head to Horseshoe Valley on Sunday for a race hosted by the Heights.  Good luck team!

We are pretty much done with January, and the U16-19 team has had 2 had great racing opportunities.

Our first race was a slalom hosted by Muskoka Ski Club on January 21st. It was a bitterly cold but bluebird day, with over 190 racers and 11 clubs on the hill. The course was challenging, with only about 45% of the racers being able to complete both runs.
