Summer is here and school’s almost out!  Don’t let the sun and heat make you forget about all our fun on snow.

2022/23 Program Registration & Schedule

Many have asked what is happening for Registration for the coming season.  We are nearing the end of exploring a potentially new process and system for registration. Thank you for the patience.  Our hope is to have Registration opened up in August, and sooner if possible.  Here’s the important point for those who are thinking ahead to scheduling… program dates and times are not changing.  As usual there will be early bird pricing and we will give returning members a heads up on when registration will open.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have a new way to transfer important knowledge within our club and also give members a chance to easily fulfill their volunteer hours.  We’d like to create three small working groups, each with a “convenor” or Chair (and each supported by at least one Board member).  Below is a summary of each opportunity.  We’d love to see one person per ski team in each group (making it each 5-6 in total for each of the three groups).

CanteenBanquetSki Swap
·  Focus is on maintaining inventory, not weekly ‘staffing’· Menu and pricing plan· Major supply run 2x per season· Weekly check of inventories· Weekly re-stocking of perishable items and other items as needed· Assist Canteen volunteers with determining appropriate quantities to prepare · Focus is event planning and day-of execution· Secure a venue· Establish a theme· 6-8 one hour weekly meetings leading up to the event· Project management of the event· Member communications and ticket sales· Securing auction or raffle prizing· Day-of set up and tear down as needed·  Focus is event planning and execution· Secure a venue· 6-8 one hour weekly meetings leading up to the event· Project management of the event· Coordinating volunteers for all needed positions· Set up day before and tear down after closing

Volunteers for each group would automatically satisfy 100% of their required volunteer hours.  No group starts from scratch, we have established and documented plans from prior years to work from.

If interested, please email volunteer@miltonheights.com and indicate which team(s) your family is part of, which group you’d like to support, and if you’d like to be the Chair/convenor or a member.

AOA Level One Officials Course

Looking for a fun way to learn more about the sport we love?  Spend a few hours taking this course.  As we put Covid behind us and return to normal race schedules, including hosting races, it’s important that we have a large group of accredited parents to help out. Many of us on the Board have done this and can tell you first-hand that it is fun and easy.  Everyone is welcome. The plan is to schedule something around Dryland in the fall – watch for more details.
