Answers to EL Coach course Q&A’s

Due to the pandemic challenges the EL course process has changed and is now separated into 3 parts: 2 online modules (Planning a Practice, Making Ethical Decisions) and 1 on-snow module, which has a mandatory minimum age requirement of 16 years on the day of the on-snow course. The modules can be taken in any order and must all be completed to achieve Alpine EL Ski Coach Trained Status.

There is a separate process to achieve EL “certified” status and requires the candidate to develop and submit a Coaching Portfolio and have an on-snow coaching assessment completed by an evaluator. For more information on the coaching pathway go to the AOA website under the “Coach” tab and for information on becoming a coach go to www.alpineontario.ca/coachingcourses. To register for the online modules look for the “Ontario” courses at https://snowreg.com/#!/listings/aca-events/EV-ACA-COACH.

Due to limitations by public health units and ski area capacities there are currently no on-snow modules scheduled. However, continue to check the course registration page for on-snow modules and MHRC communications for updates as they become available.
