Hi Everyone,

Have you ever wondered what it takes to hold a race, what the various responsibilities are of the race officials, or you would like to help out but concerned about the time and cost commitment to learn about race officiating or that there’s too much know? Here’s your opportunity to find out and be in a position to lend a hand to the MHRC Race Committee in running our 3 home races this season.

This Saturday, December 7th, Alpine Ontario is holding an entry-level Officials course from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the MHRC clubhouse. This is an overall introduction to race organization and the various Official positions with particular emphasis on timekeeping and gate judging. There are no course pre-requisites or required experience. Course attendance automatically qualifies you as Level 1 Official. Parents of entry-level to U12 level racers find this course a particularly informative introduction to race officiating as well as gaining an insight into the racing program as a whole.

To attend you need to register on the AOA website and login (if you registered for the JDL program you will need to create an account), click on “Add Program”, scroll down the list and click on ”ACA 2019/20 Level 1 Officials Course”, then choose the Milton Heights option. The cost is $25.

The MHRC Race Committee needs your help to support our athletes by ensuring we can hold races that conform to racing rules. I encourage all new members to MHRC as well as current members who have not yet taken this course to do so…the cost is affordable, the time commitment is low and the location cannot be any more convenient. Please register today, you’ll be helping our race program and our athletes!
