A quick reminder that our Xmas camp is just days away, on Thursday, December 27th at 8 a.m. in the MHRC clubhouse. Our first program day on snow will be extra special for us as MHRC’s own Kevin Macdonald will once again be spending the day with us. Kevin is a Canadian ski cross team member who grew up learning to ski at Glen Eden.

At the age of 7, he was introduced to ski racing through the MHRC house league program (now Junior Development League – JDL) and immediately fell in love with the sport. As he progressed through the racing levels from U10 to U18 he also involved in the apprentice coach program and then coached the house league program for 2 years while racing. At the age of 18, he discovered a new avenue to racing: ski cross! Now Kevin, as a Canadian national team member, he is racing full time on the FIS World Cup Ski Cross circuit and has recently finished 8th, 15th, 23rd, 27th, and 30th at World Cup races across the globe. He will be heading out to Sweden in the new year before returning to the Blue Mountain World Cup on January 26-27, 2019.

During Kevin’s time with us he will be working with all the athletes on skills and techniques related to ski and snowboard cross. Toward the end of the day we will all gather in the clubhouse to listen to him speak about mental and emotional preparation for training and racing, the issues and challenges that all athletes from recreational programs like ours’ to World Cup level have to deal with. Athletes and parents will not want to miss this talk!

Until then, we wish you a happy holiday season and look forward to seeing everyone bright and early on the 27th!
